1.   Mid-term evaluation 'EU-China Institute for Clean and Renewable Energy (ICARE)'

      Client:EU Delegation Beijing

      Focus on:

  • Evaluation of relevance, design and EU-visibility, efficiency of resource use, project progress and effectiveness, impact, sustainability prospects and cross-cutting issues

2.   China Climate Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) Project

      Client:World Bank / GEF

      Focus on:

  • Methodology development, technical oversight, synthesis and dissemination.
  • Technology assessments at the sector and provincial levels
  • Capacity building to support climate technology networks
  • Pilot program to accelerate technology transfer

      Personal expert involvement:

  • Senior international expert for climate change mitigation technology
  • Methodological research on technology needs assessment in China
  • Liaison with relevant stakeholders

1.   Market-based System Reforms for Energy Sector Low Carbon Development in China

Client:China Energy Research Society (CERS), NDRC

      Focus on:

  • Overview on energy system management and regulatory structures between the PRC and EU/UK
  • Report highlighting UK low carbon energy market approaches, pricings, and regulatory reforms in energy sector
  • Analysis of applicable low carbon energy market instruments and policy measures to the PRC based on the UK energy sector reform experiences

2.   Low Carbon Future Cities - A Sino-German Cooperation on an Integrated Climate and Resource Proof Urban Development

         Client:Mercator Foundation, Germany

         Focus on:

  • Development of a Low Carbon City strategy for Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, China
  • Development of a Stakeholder Dialogue Forum on Low Carbon Cities between Wuxi and the Düsseldorf region
  • Development of suitable communication and dissemination instruments

Client:Ludwig Bölkow Systemtechnik, Germany

2010-2011

1.   Carbon Market in the new building sector in China – Programmatic-CDM, new sectoral approaches, development of a national trade platform

         Client:    Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and             Nuclear Safety

         Focus on:

  • Reduction of transaction costs of different of new instruments of the carbon market in the building sector (pCDM, e.g. through typified PDDs, sectoral approaches in comparison to (p)CDM)
  • Derivation of first insights to the feasibility of the development of a national trade platform for emission credits in the building sector
  • Utilisation of these instruments by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development in a pilot region
